Back in the Victorian times, microscopists would select certain diatoms under the microscope, then move them about on the slide with a single human hair mounted on a wooden shaft. Imagination ran riot and they created geometric designs, pretty scenes and cartoons before cementing them in place.
This is so amazing. If I lived in victorian times, this is what I would be doing. I would love to be doing this now actually…I just can’t believe these images are composed of living (or once living) organisms. It makes me appreciate Diatoms even more for inspiring such creativity.
